Vivienne Westwood "Hercules and Omphale" Jeans - AW93 “Anglomania”
Details One of Westwood’s most iconic collections, Autumn Winter 1993 “Anglomania”, was the designer at her best. She invented her own type of tartan pattern for the collection named “MacAndreas” after her husband. The star-studded show featured supermodels like Kate Moss, and Naomi Campbell, who had a spectacular fall while in her patent blue platforms. The show was as subversive as it was extravagant with oversized accessories, flashy nylon furs and loaves of bread used as props. These jeans feature an all-over print of Francois Boucher’s painting “Hercules and Omphale.” The piece is a clear representation of Westwood’s interest in mythos, history, and appreciation for aesthetics. Contrast red stitching accents the garment throughout and Westwood’s iconic Saturn orb pendant is submerged in clear plastic buttons in place of metal hardware.
