Details
One of the leading designers of the 80s Thierry Mugler was known for his theatrical and exuberant runway shows. Garments inspired by insects, anatomy, animal furs, and symbolism were ever-present. A distinguishing feature was the precision and cut of each garment he worked on, whether it be a jacket draping effortlessly over the shoulders or his metallic bodices and corsets that proved incredibly modern and subversive even by today’s standards. Mugler’s garments and evocative set-pieces sometimes tread the line between an art installation and a runway show. This black jacket is done in a cotton fabrication and features a transparent nylon and lycra back panel with a black skeletal shape. It’s shoulder pads, snap button closure, and trucker jacket stylings give the garment a more masculine touch to the otherwise flamboyant nature of the piece.
