Raf Simons Patched Military Shirt - SS03 "Consumed"
Details Raf Simons 2003 Spring Summer “Consumed” collection was the designers take on the capitalist culture that the fashion industry resides in. Rather than providing answers to the cultural effect of capitalism on global society, Raf instead parodies these themes of consumption, materialism, and advertising on the runway and in his garments. In his world, a gang of adolescent models are clad in black riot gear and graphic tees each referencing different corporate logos and organizations. The collection itself is dedicated to “Neo-Geo” artist Ashley Bickerton who was also an avid critic of consumerist culture through his striking collages and paintings exhibited during the 1980s. This faded black shirt features pen and military-style pockets throughout, a black “SHORT-TIMER” patch adorns the right sleeve.
