Details Titled “Icarus Surgit,” Raf Simons’ Spring Summer 2006 collection drew inspiration from the mythological tale by implementing themes of airiness, movement, and flight. The clothes relate to the Greek myth where Icarus rose to the sun and his wings dissolved causing him to fall into the sea. Many tops include latticework, alongside an oversized fit which sways fluidly with the body. Slate, dove-grey, gunmetal, and black were the colors chosen for their military correlation. This faded black crewneck comes in an oversized fit. A red printed “MMDCCLIX” (2859) and the Latin phrase “Aether et Anima” (Air and Soul) harken back to the military and Greek mythological themes.
