During this period Simons’ work had reached a point of critical reevaluation, which could only mean more praise for the Belgian designer. Here he focused on the critical moment of adolescence when one is transitioning into adulthood. In a sense, he presented his own bildungsroman and channeled the emotions a young man feels when going through this transitional phase in one’s life. For the collection, he favored sleeker silhouettes and more form-fitting cuts, garments that were made for men who had grown comfortable with their figure. The designer sought inspiration from numerous cultural figures, channeling Marth Rothko for specific pieces. This coat is fabricated out of a wool blend, it features a detachable collar and zip-up closure.
