Raf Simons "Consumed" Tank - SS03 "Consumed"

In one of the seminal Raf Simons’ collections Spring Summer 2003’s “Consumed” the designer pointed his barrel at materialism and our growing dependence on capitalist culture. Simons explored the relationship between capitalist iconographies like brand logos and symbols to their consumers. To achieve this, the designer turned to the work of collage artist Ashley Bickerton who was known for using brand logos as a critique of capitalism. This Tank top features a series of logo graphics throughout the garment, highlighting the abundance of consumerist culture.
