Details Deterring from the traditional celebrity lifestyle known throughout the industry, the allusive Martin Margiela believed that clothes should speak for themselves. Before his tenure at the Maison, Margiela studied under Jean Paul Gaultier as an assistant where he sought out to learn the ins and outs of a fashion house. After accomplishing what he set out to achieve Margiela was encouraged to establish his own. Taking cues from French deconstructionist Jacques Derrida, the designer was known for looking back at the history of fashion and reinterpreting different styles. His most beloved line to this day “Line 010” specializes in reconstructing new garments out of used and abandoned pieces, giving the clothes a new life. As with most Artisanal Margiela garment’s, these jeans are made out of a vintage pair of Levis. The denim is turned inside out with an exposed snap closure button-fly, light distressing along the pocket seams and hems accent the garment.
