Details
Deterring from the traditional celebrity lifestyle known throughout the industry, the elusive Martin Margiela believed that clothes should speak for themselves. Before his tenure at the Maison, Margiela studied under Jean Paul Gaultier as an assistant where he sought out to learn the ins and outs of a fashion house. After accomplishing what he set out to achieve Margiela was encouraged to establish his own. Taking cues from French deconstructionist Jacques Derrida, the designer was known for looking back at the history of fashion and reinterpreting different styles. His most beloved line to this day “Line 010” specializes in reconstructing new garments out of used and abandoned pieces, giving the clothes a new life. These are a reproduction of an early Spring Summer 2001 garment that was inspired by infusing the characteristics of a suit trouser pattern and a pair of jeans into a new garment. From the Margiela Line 14, unisex line.
