Junya Watanabe "South Dakota Middle School Cows" Shirt - AD2002

Junya Watanabe "South Dakota Middle School Cows" Shirt - AD2002

As with many of Junya’s earlier works, the 2002 collection features a strong focus on collegiate wear and textile innovation. An ode to American culture, numerous pieces in this collection featured school graphics on outerwear, sweatshirts, jeans, and sweatpants. The collaboration with Levi’s (which would go on to expand many seasons after) helped spawn a series of playful retakes on their classic denim silhouettes, with Junya creating trucker-style jackets out of colorful synthetic blends and unique denim offerings. This fall collection comes a season prior to Junya Man exhibiting runway shows. Black cotton poplin shirt with a screen-printed "South Dakota Middle School Cows" graphic on the chest.
