Issey Miyake Sport Team Varsity Jacket - 1984

Established in 1977 by Issey Miyake and his younger protege Tsumori Chisato, Issey Sport took a fresh outlook on classic sportswear aesthetics. Lasting for 13 years, this line brought unique design aspects to the market, specifically Tsumori’s use of various pleating techniques. The line was renamed “I.S. Chisato Tsumori Designs” but soon after discontinued in 1990, when Chisato Tsumori left Issey Miyake to find her own self-titled label. Although the line was not particularly popular at the time of release, Issey Sport has seen a revitalization as of late. This royal blue and grey color blocked varsity jacket features a boxy cut with white accents on the ribbing. The back of the jacket is embellished with a chenille “I.S. TEAM” patch arched over a decorative embroidery showcasing the year of the collection.
