Issey Miyake Sport Flags Varsity Jacket - 1984

Envisioned in 1977 by Issey Miyake and his younger protege Tsumori Chisato, Issey Sport took a fresh outlook on classic sportswear aesthetics. Lasting for 13 years, this line brought unique design aspects to the market, specifically Tsumori’s use of various pleating techniques. The line was renamed “I.S. Chisato Tsumori Designs” but soon after discontinued in 1990, when Chisato Tsumori left Issey Miyake to found her own self-titled label. Although the line was not particularly popular at the time of release, Issey Sport has seen a revitalization as of late. This rich green varsity jacket features a boxy cut with blue accents on the ribbing and an orange quilted lining. The back of the jacket is adorned with multi-colored racing flags arched over a chenille “I.S. TEAM” patch.
