Details Titled “Icarus Surgit,” Raf Simons’ Spring Summer 2006 collection drew inspiration from the mythological tale by implementing airiness, movement, and flight. The collection relates to the Greek myth wherein the young Icarus flew too close to the sun causing his wings to dissolve, plunging him into the sea. Many tops include latticework, alongside an oversized fit which sways fluidly with the body. Slate, dove-grey, gunmetal, and black were the colors chosen for their military nature. This mini parachute bomber was a standout piece in the collection. A painstakingly designed garment this jacket features dolman sleeves, a detachable collar, wind flaps, and hidden pockets. The jacket's airy nature is made evident when worn, gracefully falling over the shoulders, conveying a sense of movement.
