An ongoing theme in Branquinho’s work is the reinterpretation of classic and essential garments. Staples like the Peacoat, Turtleneck, slacks and leather jackets are given subtle and unique embellishments in her Autumn Winter 2001 collection. This subdued color palette also permeated her work for the better part of the decade. Incorporating simple garments into her shows makes her clothes incredibly approachable and wearable for regular people, while at the same time never compromising the dreamy aesthetic qualities of the collection. One of the only patch-worked offerings in the collection, this leather jacket is one of the few statement pieces and was meant to contrast well with the more effortless garments on the catwalk. The jacket features black and burgundy leather patchwork throughout the entirety of the garment, zip closure and ribbing on the cuffs and hem.
