Details
One of Simons’ most visually sinister collections Autumn Winter 2005, “History Of My World” was the designer’s shift to tailoring and a play on proportions. The corporate, exaggerated white-collar suiting was emblematic of Simons’ ongoing critique of the neoliberal order and consumerism as a whole. Cropped jackets, oversized trousers, and outerwear plagued the runway. Outside of the show, the collection featured some of the designer’s most memorable graphics, each taken from various different subcultures and musical influences. This oversized hoodie, in particular, is a direct reference to The Cure’s song “One Hundred Years”, from their 1982 record, “Pornography”. This oversized hoodie is done in a terry cotton fabrication and features an “All Shadows” graphic on the chest.
