Envisioned in 1977 by Issey Miyake and his younger protege Tsumori Chisato, Issey Sport took a fresh outlook on classic sportswear aesthetics. Lasting for 13 years, this line brought unique design aspects to the market, specifically Tsumori’s use of various pleating techniques. The line was renamed “I.S. Chisato Tsumori Designs” but soon after discontinued in 1990 when Chisato Tsumori left Issey Miyake to find her own namesake label. Although the line was short-lived at the time of its initial release, Issey Sport has seen a revitalization as of late. This jacket is done in a wool fabrication and robust calf-leather sleeves, the exaggerated dropped shoulders give the piece a flattering drape while maintaining a structured look.
