Raf Simons Mutli-Pocket Hooded Cargo Vest - SS03 "Consumed"

Raf Simons Mutli-Pocket Hooded Cargo Vest - SS03 "Consumed"

Raf Simons 2003 Spring-Summer “Consumed” collection was the designer's take on the capitalist culture that the fashion industry resides in. Rather than providing answers to the cultural effect of capitalism on global society, Raf instead parodies these themes of consumption, materialism, and advertising on the runway and in his garments. In his world, a gang of adolescent models are clad in black riot gear and graphic tees each referencing different corporate logos and organizations. The collection itself is dedicated to “Neo-Geo” artist Ashley Bickerton who was also an avid critic of consumerist culture through his striking collages and paintings exhibited during the 1980s. This military-inspired vest is done in a classic cotton shirting fabric. It features multiple pockets throughout the entirety of the garment, button closure, and a cotton terry hood. Distressing on sleeves.
